The engineer of this MSW landfill in New Hanover, North Carolina designed a landfill with long slide slopes. These slopes required a geocomposite in the leak detection system, which was capable of rapidly detecting any major breach in the primary liner system, and providing adequate Action Leakage Rate (ALR). Additionally, the geocomposite required great thickness to ensure the LDS was not saturated. Tenax Tendrain was selected as the geonet on the project because of its ability to meet all of these requirements plus its ability to stand up to high compressive loads.
